NAM Wellness Delta-10 THC 101: Your Insight into This Amazing Cannabinoid

Did you know that delta-10-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-10 THC) is one of the newer cannabinoids that has been discovered in the hemp plant?  Well now you do.  It hasn’t taken long though for this compound to become a favorite among hemp enthusiasts who crave psychoactive cannabinoids.  Its effects are known for being highly distinctive, and many users view it as the perfect daytime cannabinoid for a reason.  If you’re seeking out a somewhat mild, highly uplifting hemp experience, delta 10 could very well be your new favorite hemp derivative.

Like delta-8 THC, delta-10 THC comes in some unique forms, and, again, can be a nice addition to your daily routine as a hemp user.  So, we will cover everything you need to know about delta 10 and what it’s capable of, along with whether or not it is actually legal to purchase and consume delta-10 where you live.

What Exactly is Delta-10 THC Anyway?

Delta 10 THC is a minor cannabinoid found in the hemp plant’s chemical composition.  Its discovery is so new, we don’t yet have information about exactly how much delta 10 exists in the plant material.

Delta-10 THC was actually discovered by accident, only a few years ago, back when cannabis farmers purchased an existing cannabis farm, and discovered that when the plant material they acquired had been previously treated with flame retardant, it developed a more abundant amount of this new and unique cannabinoid.  It was then analyzed and determined to be delta 10 based on its distinctive carbon chain.

Because delta-10 THC is basically brand-new, little information about it exists from a research perspective.  What we do know is that it’s one of over 100 individual cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, and that it interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) in its own way to produce one-of-a-kind effects.

Is Delta-10 THC Legal?

Delta-10 THC is legal under federal law, despite the fact that it does get users high.  This is because the Farm Bill, which passed in the United States back in 2018, federally legalized the hemp plant, and all of its derivatives that contain a maximum of 0.3% delta-9 THC.  Delta 10 is not prohibited in any way under federal law.

One thing, however, is the fact that some states throughout the country have banned delta-10 THC, along with delta-8 THC and other THC-based compounds.  This means that if you live in one of the following states, you may have a hard time getting your hands on delta 10:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • New York
  • North Dakota
  • Rhode Island
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Washington

Note: State laws can change over time, and with all of the attention hemp is getting in general, delta 10 laws may change at any moment.  Therefore, before purchasing delta 10 products, best to ensure its legalized where you live.

Will Delta-10 THC Get Me High?

Delta-10 THC is an intoxicating cannabinoid, and so it will get you high.  Its high is about 70% as potent as that of delta-9 THC, which is the dominant psychoactive cannabinoid in the marijuana plant.  This means that its high is milder by comparison, but still noticeable and fully capable of giving you the results that you want.

Many people even compare delta-8 THC to delta-10 THC, especially since their highs are practically equal in potency.  But, delta 10 is completely one-of-a-kind.  While delta 8 is known for being very soothing, and is more associated with evening use, delta 10 is pretty much the opposite.  It’s more uplifting, motivating, and creativity-boosting, which is why a lot of people prefer it in the daytime.  In fact, it’s often compared to the effects of a sativa strain.

Delta-10 THC, like delta-8 THC, seems to offer a clear-minded high as well.  Basically, you’ll be more likely to feel focused, alert, and completely self-aware from it, as opposed to delta-9 THC which can make us feel incredibly out of it and hazy.

What are the Potential Properties of Taking Delta 10 THC?

Again, since delta-10 THC is a new discovery, we just don’t really have any clinical studies to refer to when trying to grasp its unique properties related to the endocannabinoid system, other than its ability to get us high.  But, that doesn’t mean that it will not have other uses.  Delta 10 is a cannabinoid after all, and we know that all cannabinoids attach themselves to different cannabinoid receptors throughout the body to trigger specific desirable effects.  At the time of this article being published, what we hope is that researchers start to analyze delta 10 in the near future, in order to learn more about its valuable properties.

Will Delta-10 THC Influence a Drug Test?

Essentially, yes, THC compounds are all metabolized by an enzyme in the body known as THC-COOH.  Many people don’t realize that common drug tests aren’t looking for traces of marijuana in the urine, but THC-COOH.  And, all THC compounds, including delta 10, are metabolized by THC-COOH.  Meaning, all forms of THC can cause a positive drug test result.

How Often Can I Take Delta-10 THC?

Like delta-8 THC, delta 10 THC can be taken on a daily basis, due to its cumulative effects which are potentially increasingly effective when administered consistently.  However, delta 10 can also be taken as desired.  Basically, you can take it daily if you’d like, as this cannabinoid is nontoxic to the body.  However, anyone who might be new to delta-10, should be aware that it can take time to build up a tolerance to the cannabinoid.  Also, it’s recommended not drive or operate heavy machinery since its effects could impair judgment.

Get Ready to Feel Uplifted with Delta-10 THC

Delta 10 THC is a cannabinoid that has a lot to offer, especially to those who enjoy a buzz that remains relatively mellow.  If you’re looking for a psychoactive compound from hemp that can make you feel refreshed, invigorated, creative and uplifted, then delta 10 is absolutely worth exploring.  Still, before starting a delta 10 routine, best to initially speak with your doctor, particularly if you’re currently taking any prescription medications.  Overall, your physician has access to your medical records, and therefore, can make a proper determination if delta-10 is an option for you to have.
